Byrd Mass for Four Voices, Tallis and Sheppard

Celebrating Tudor sacred music, this concert centres on William Byrd, hailed as the ‘father of English music’ and his intensely personal Mass for Four Voices. The programme also features luminous motets (Propers) by Thomas Tallis, celebrated for his architectural purity and clarity. Completing the trio is John Sheppard, known for his dense, trance-like polyphony building to a unique splendour of choral expression. Together, these timeless masterpieces weave a breathtaking tapestry of devotion from England’s golden age of singing.
