Arts Admin - Work Experience Post
From September 2017 to June 2018
The National Centre for Early Music (NCEM) in York is offering an opportunity for an under-graduate student to join us for half a day a week to work alongside marketing, box office and operations staff.
The student must be available to base themselves at the NCEM for a regular half-day (minimum 4 hours) a week, plus there may also be small tasks that are possible to carry out from home.
The successful student will gain an invaluable insight into the workings of a small arts organisation and be part of a small but dynamic and hard working team. He/she will get plenty of hands-on experience. This would be an ideal post for anyone looking for a career in arts admin.
We are looking for a student who has the following skills:
- Ability to write well
- A confident communicator
- Familiar with Word and Excel spreadsheets
- Regular user of social media - Twitter/Facebook/Instagram
- Good telephone manner
- Strong organisiational skills
- Research skills
- Team player and also the ability and initiative to work alone
- An interest in all sorts of music
- Willingness to use the photocopier and make tea!
This is a non-paid position but pre-approved out of pocket expenses would be covered (receipts would be required) and the NCEM would be willing to provide future job references.
