Leave a Legacy

After providing for your loved ones, would you consider leaving a gift in your will to the NCEM? Leaving a legacy to the NCEM ensures that we can continue the work that you’ve so enjoyed, enabling us to inspire, educate, and enrich lives for generations to come.

Recent legacies from long-term supporters have made a significant impact on the development of the NCEM and the many musicians that we work with. Whether it’s supporting young musicians or enabling future festivals and education projects, your legacy can be a powerful and lasting act of generosity.

The NCEM is a great community facility as well as an international platform for early music specialists. My gift will help ensure the charity can continue to support a whole range of talented musicians locally and nationally – young, and not so young.

Why Leave a Legacy?

Protect the future of music you love.

  • Support young artists and early music education
  • Preserve York’s musical heritage and NCEM’s Grade I listed home
  • Leave a tax-efficient gift that reduces the inheritance tax on your estate

A Simple Way to Give

Leaving a gift in your will is straightforward — even a small amount can make a big difference. You can choose to leave:

  • A fixed amount
  • A percentage of your estate
  • A residual gift after other priorities are taken care of

Supporters who have made a difference

Trevor and Emma Woolston’s generous legacy helped ensure that the winners of the International Young Artist Competition were well supported on their musical journey

NCEM Patron Nick Ninnim’s legacy provided the seed funding for the New Generation Baroque Ensemble partnership between NCEM, the Royal College of Music and BBC Radio 3

The legacy received from the estate of our long-term audience member Mike Allen is funding our young artists development programmes

The NCEM has been named in my will for many years. It has given me great joy, intellectual satisfaction, fun and friendship over several decades.

Gifts in Memory

A gift in memory is a special and meaningful way to remember a loved one and their passion for the artists, music, and moments they spent at the NCEM. Please talk to us if you would like to donate in memory of someone.

Further advice and information

If you want to discuss your gift or would like it to be used for a specific purpose please contact us to ensure we can fulfil your wish. Please remember that we cannot give legal advice, so please read more here about the benefits of leaving a gift www.rememberacharity.org.uk/leaving-a-gift and then get in contact with your solicitor or will writer.

The only information they will need is our charity name and number:
Charity name: The York Early Music Foundation
Registered charity number: 1068331
And of course including a gift to the NCEM in your Will can have tax advantages. Your solicitor or financial adviser can help you with this, or you can find more information on IHT exemptions by visiting the UK government website: www.gov.uk/inheritance-tax.

Let Us Thank You

There’s no obligation to tell us, but if you choose to share your plans with us, we’d love the opportunity to thank you and keep you informed about NCEM’s work..
