Come and explore music of the past in an interactive workshop organised by the Beverley and East Riding Early Music Festival.
Georgians in Beverley loved to have fun, making music, choreographing dances, and playing cards in their extravagant parties. Join us to take part in your very own Georgian musical party! Together we will play some of their music, explore games, learn dances, and hearing fun facts about the era and its people.
This workshop is open to students aged 7 to 12 who play a woodwind or stringed instrument. There is no required musical standard. Please let us know your instrument and approximate playing level when booking.
The event will be led by recorder player Olwen Foulkes and violinist Ellen Bundy, members of Ensemble Augelletti in residence at this year’s Festival.
This workshop is part of the Beverley and East Riding Early Music Festival, taking place across Beverley between 23 and 25 May. Ensemble Augelletti will be performing in several concerts, including a special family performance.
Join us again for the family concert on Saturday 24th May as we ‘Pick a Card’ using the playing cards that will be featured in the workshop, alongside performances of pieces by Telemann, Handel, Bach and Vivaldi.

The Beverley & East Riding Early Music Festival is supported by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
Directed by Delma Tomlin MBE and administered through the National Centre for Early Music with funding from Arts Council England.
