Drawing on the insights of scholar-philosophers and the concept of inspired melancholy,
Tears into Light explores how melancholy has been understood throughout history,
and how it offers a lens through which to view the present. Built around Dowland’s
Lachrimae, with its seven pavans arranged, reimagined and interwoven with Armenian
traditional music, the journey moves between sorrow and transcendence to create a
transformative emotional space, a meditation on resilience, an acknowledgment of
sorrow, and a reminder that light can always emerge from darkness.
