AT THE NCEM

Our Work

The NCEM is passionate about engaging young people in music-making and in providing accessible ways for them to experience and perform early music. Including, The Minster Minstrels, York's youth early music ensemble and a host of learning and participation activities running as part of the annual Early Music Festivals in York and Beverley.

The NCEM is an official Arts Award Supporter offering activities to help young people aged 7 to 25 to develop as artists and art leaders.

The NCEM remains committed to equality and continues to support young people living in challenging circumstances through its outreach programme, Music4U funded by Youth Music.

Story Orchestra: Four Seasons in One Day

A project for East Riding Schools March 2021

We are excited to be working with Eboracum Baroque on their Story Orchestra: Four Seasons in One Day project in the East Riding in March 2021.

The workshop includes a performance of some of Vivaldi's Four Seasons on period instruments, with narration from Vivaldi himself! Children will then get involved in a vocal and body percussion workshop centred upon the Thunderstorm depicted in the music. Finally, children can channel their musical inspiration into a work of art, with a crafty workshop, where they will create all four seasons in a special collage.

The workshop is suitable for KS1 and KS2, so if you are an East Riding school and would like to take part, please get in touch to find out more.

With so much to get involved in we hope to have you with us soon. If there is anything you’d like to discuss further then please don’t hesitate to get in contact with Lottie our Learning and Participation Manager.

The learning and participation programme and associated learning resources are made possible thanks to the support from Youth Music and Mayfield Valley Arts Trust.
