York born Tim Lowe returns alongside Leeds Piano competition prize winner Andrew Brownell to open York Chamber Music Festival 2024 with a French themed cello recital. Debussy and Fauré both knew they were approaching the end of their lives but their cello sonatas are infused with twentieth century harmonic language; exotic modes and dreamy, time-altering magic welling up from within, and in Fauré‘s case from his silent world, for he was totally deaf. In 2024 we celebrate the centenary of his death.
“Tim Lowe’s playing is compelling in every respect: probing, virtuosic and yielding by turns – a true example of outstanding musicianship.” Wigmore Hall recital, Musical Opinion
