The York Early Music International Young Artists Competition takes place as part of York Early Music Festival. The biennial competition for early music ensembles, which is recognised as a major international platform for emerging talent in the early music world, offers a major boost to professional careers with opportunities for performance, recording and broadcasting.
"Taking part in the Competition was a very significant experience for us. The friendly, helpful atmosphere at the NCEM put us at ease and the format of two presentations allowed us to get acquainted with the space and the public before the "big day". Winning the Competition helped us reach a wider public, created new engagements in important Early Music Festivals, and allowed us to return to York the following year for a concert which was broadcast by the BBC. Thanks to the NCEM and Linn Records we were able to record this programme for a CD in exactly the way that we wished. We had a great time in York and can only hope that the ensembles taking part in the 2013 competition enjoy it as much as we did!"
