Events - Work Experience Post
From May 2017 to July 2018
The National Centre for Early Music (NCEM) in York is offering an internship opportunity in its busy venue. This post is for half a day a week to work alongside the events and operations staff assisting with the planning and preparation of the NCEM's busy events programme including concerts, weddings, conferences and a variety of events held at the NCEM.
The appointed candidate must be available to base themselves at the NCEM for a regular half-day (minimum 4 hours) a week. There may be further opportunity to have hands-on events experience during events out of office hours.
The successful student will gain an invaluable insight into the workings of a small arts organisation and be part of a small but dynamic and hard working team. He/she will get plenty of hands-on experience. This would be an ideal post for anyone looking for a career in arts administration or events management.
We are looking for a student who has the following skills:
- Strong organisiational skills
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to write well
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with discretion
- Ability to work under own initiative as well as part of a team
- A confident communicator
- Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Good telephone manner
- Research skills
- An interest in all sorts of music
- Willingness to use the photocopier and make tea!
This is a non-paid position but pre-approved out of pocket expenses would be covered (receipts would be required) and the NCEM would be willing to provide future job references.
